So apparently, I really DO have to starve myself to be thinnerAll my life, I've struggled with weight. I grew up surrounded by girls that you could literally wrap your hands around their thighs and touch your opposing fingers. But that was never the case for me. A couple of years ago, I went on an intensive diet program. Six months of a doctor ( Read more... )

Never having really seriously dieted I'm curious where I would fall on this scale, in college I started about 30 lbs lighter than I am now; and almost 45 lbs lighter than I was at my lightest during college (stupid piss poor transit system).

I wonder if the multi-billion dollar diet industry had something to do with the research mentioned in this artilce being buried for so many years?

Interesting article.

What were the builds of your parents and their parents?

My father is considered normal in weight. My mother struggled with her weight all her life. My maternal grandparents were told by the adoption agency that obesity ran in my mother's birth family. My paternal grandmother died when my father was 4, so he really has no memory of her. I believe she was relatively thin. My paternal grandfather looked relatively normal in weight from pictures, but he died when he was 53, two years before my birth.

You struck me as someone who had a few extra pounds, but nothing terrible. Like the husband, you have a "solid" build. I've always liked builds like that -- it's a security thing.

Very enlightening, thank you for sharing. It helps solidify some things going on for me. Not sure where to go with that, but at least I feel less nutso.
