I like to point out that a marriage is a contract that does not have to be sanctified by any religion to be legal and binding.In Florida anyways.I don't know the laws of all of them.
If a person is over the age of 18, which as far as I know is the only requirement to enter in to a legally binding contract, who the hell is the government, any government, to tell anyone that they can't?
