I ran into a couple of muslims like that in Jordan. They were both taxi drivers. Just a point of curiosity: do you know what school of thought most muslims you encounter follow?

by school of thought, i think they're suffis...but they have their own sects here...one of the large groups prays towards the town of touba, where there's a huge mosque and their big imam/prophet lived and died there, not towards mecca. but there are two main sects...the mourides and the tijannis. there's also a group of rastafarians, called bi-falls. =) they all have dreads and know enough english to hit on american girls. and worship bob marley. tons of fun...and the drum is going!
