Just something I've noticed

So, I just started class again yesterday. Which means I've been spending a lot of time looking at course outlines. And (as the title to this post implies) I've noticed something. It's a seemingly insignificant thing, but I actually find it really interesting. It's just a little word string that crops up over and over again in the syllabuses for ( Read more... )

This is so true. I was living here when the Can-Con rules came in (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_content), and the difference between the amount and quality of Canadian media productions (music, art, television, films) have improved tremendously. If you want to know what it was like in the early days, check out "The Trouble With Tracy" on Youtube, I'm sure someone's uploaded some of it. Or "The Starlost", a show which made the Doctor Who budget look enormous. It was unpleasant for a few years, but that unpleasantness led to people creating a lot of new media that filled the gap quite nicely. Eventually, we started to produce programs that have made the move south, even - Due South, for instance, or Cold Squad, or Corner Gas, or Little Mosque on the Prairie.

Oh, there's a bad, bad sentence in there. "The difference...improved tremendously?" I think I meant the situation was different, and had improved tremendously. Eesh.
