Writers must exercise!

I did something today that I said I was never going to do...I joined a health club! I don't like health clubs. I'm not a sweaty gym sort of person. I'm a take a long walk or take a long bike ride sort of person. I'm actually pretty good about getting exercise (I'd even go so far as to say I'm a little obsessed about my exercise). And thanks to my ( Read more... )

Thanks Catherine. As long as everyone understands I'm not giving up chocolate (let's be realistic!), we should be good.

Thanks, Laura. I definitely look better now than I did 10 years ago. :) And it's amazing what you can hide under a nice pair of black jeans. People always look thinner in black.

I'm not giving up pasta, either. In fact, I'm going to try and recreate that sauce from OSF!

I'm still dreaming of that SAUCE! :-) It really was something. Dori and I might have to road trip up to see you again--for the fun of hanging with you AND the sauce!

Hey, I never need much of an excuse to go to MN...I think we SHOULD go visit Laura (and the sauce)! We'll have to bring the rest of my writing group with us, too...when we were all driving to Patricia's in MISSOURI this weekend, I found out Wendy and Amy haven't ever been to Minnesota! How do live in Iowa and never go to Minnesota (says the Minnesotan in the group)? So we talked about getting a hotel room in the Twin Cities (or the North Shore, which would be a very different experience) sometime next spring and having a weekend write-in...and eating at fabulous ethnic restaurants etc.

Dori,
Good luck with your health and fitness goals! I think Curves looks kind of fun, and it sounds good that it's a circuit. I'm inspired that you lost a lot of weight just by walking (JUST! Sounds like a lot!). I think you look wonderful, but each person has her own comfort level, and I truly wished I'd nipped my problem in the bud...it would be great to need to lose just 15 or 20 pounds....because now it's so much more than that! (I will never get down on myself for being a size 12 again...I looked great as a 12. Sadly, didn't know it.) Sorry...got off track there a bit.

Back to you: Yay! GOOD LUCK! How often do you plan to go?

I was definitely lighter/thinner a year ago. I'm creeping back up...that's why I'm doing something about it now.

I don't know how often I'll go...you're supposed to go three times a week, and I'll go at least that often. Over the winter I may go even more often. (If you don't show up for two weeks, they CALL you! I'm not sure how I feel about that...)
