worse than usual

So 28 days ago, Anthony got a very resounding NO on his visa application and was told he had to leave the country and return to the States. Today he did that, five days after our 2 year wedding anniversary. I've had a migraine for the last month and regularly feel like I'm going to throw up on myself at any moment. And just want to scream at the ( Read more... )

That sounds really awful and painful and I'm sure it's even worse than I'm imagining.

Do you guys have a plan so you can be in the same country at the same time? Or is it one of those things where you have to just wait and see?

yeah, unfortunately just a bunch of waiting and seeing. We have an application in process for me to get a visa over there, but we're not sure yet whether we can continue with it. We might have to start a new one.

I don't even know what to say, except I'm very sorry. I can't begin to imagine how much that sucks, and it's one of my worst fears right now. Do you know what your options are from this point on?

Why can't there be a country called like Anybodytopia where you don't need any kind of approval documents to move there and live? If countries want to play ping pong with people's lives, at least leave an option for people who just want to settle down somewhere - ANYWHERE - and live an unhassled life.

yeah, I'm hoping very much so that everything goes well with You and Rob. Hopefully Canadians will be better looked on in America than Americans are in Australia. Really though, it was just our lack of documents stating that we'd lived together for all the time we told them we had. So I would say just try to be stalkerish on your own lifes and keep everything. Like receipts for when you buy ice cream heh.
We really were just numbers, I understand individuals can't put their personal feelings into the mix, but they never bothered to meet either of us in person.

From here we just have to wait and see if we can go ahead with the application we already have for me to get an american visa, or perhaps we shall have to start a new one from the beginning.

I did a lot of researching recently and I learned a bunch of options, how long did Anthony live with you in Australia? Can you guys do a Direct Consular Application to bring the spouse (you) into America? Apparently that is like super fast and the fact that you guys have been married two years definitely establishes marital relationship. But otherwise, maybe they can just 're-open' your visa case, that would be nice and only half the wait.

And thank you for all the advice you've given me. I will definitely make sure to save every single scrap of paper. Coincidentally, I just bought a huge file box and re-organized all of our lifetime records, like from birth certificates to bank account statements haha.

I wish you guys so much luck, please let me know if there is anything I could do, any forms you need sent, any marching, any peaceful protests outside INS haha. *hugs* I found a great website that maybe you already know of, Visa Journey. Lots of information from people actually going through every kind of visa process.
