honestly, i must be the only person on livejournal that thinks that it's worth keeping people on your friends list, even if you don't talk that much (or at all).

because even if you don't talk to them, they're still there, and there was a connection that prompted you to friend them in the first place, and if you cut them out of your social circle ( Read more... )

I agree. The only time I do a friends cut if I feel that really, I don't really connect with the person/there was so much drama that we just don't talk anymore. comments were never my motivation for it, cause I rarely comment on my friend's entries XD

I think it's really irritating when you are friends with someone and they kind of stop being friends with you because they don't have exactly similar like anymore. Or atleast come off that way. XD Basicall, the way fandom like, makes people like you less, or you "get out of touch". I don't understand it because I have a ton of friends who are only into some of the things I am into and we all get along just fine. It's not about what you like, it's about being friends.

XD IDK, maybe I'm just stubborn.

I've stopped doing cuts, now, mostly because of that.

but every so often i will, just to clean out old journals of people who i

a) don't know who they are
b) they haven't updated at all or in the last year and we haven't spoken since they asked to friend
or c) they were a dick to a friend.

i understand that, and have done it on occasion myself C:

it's those "i'm doing a friends-cut, comment if you want to stay!" posts that i don't get.

people are at least reading what i have to say on occasion, you know? that's good enough for me; they don't have to comment on it. 8D

Yeah, I just gave up on doing those. Mostly because I'm too lazy to clear out my f-list like that, and not to mention... people are on my f-list because I want them there. We may not be the most frequent of commenters to each other, but that isn't the point of friendship at all. It's why I also refuse to respond to other people's "comment to be kept" posts-- I remove people only if they remove me/if they've done something really horrible to me or a friend, and I'd like to think that people have the common sense to get rid of me earlier if they wanted to.
