Did you think about getting a couple of sun lamps and some bright wall hangings and spending a certain amount of time in your room being warm and surrounded by color...possibly eating ice cream? I think you could be ok. You didn't die in Portland, you probably won't die in England if you take a few precautions and are aware of yourself.
Good luck, darling!

Too bad it mostly just rains in Manchester. I would argue for the sun lamps as a means of survival, course I would really ask if you are going to study in England, Why Manchester?

well, the theatre scene is good, and as a city it's basically the portland of the uk. the uni's website is crap, but it does indicate that i could get the PhD in 3 years (and that includes getting a master's first). but yeah. cold, wet, near liverpool; it could be better.

Is there any way you could go for a visit to the school in Manchester and see how it fits you? I do realize it's a long haul from your part of the USA.

Other than that, I would say you should definitely give it a try.

Hope the summer's going well in the west. There's a chance I may visit the SF area in September if you're sticking around then.
