Indeed, But Who Shall Catch You? (4 Questions from jennet)

Nov 17, 2004 13:54

1. You are a superhero (I had fun with this question). What's your name, your mission, your superpowers? Do you have a posse or are you a lone ranger? How do YOU choose to fight The Forces Of Evil?

In reverse to Jennet’s “hurl shit around” dark side of the Force, I always liked the subtle diplomatic functions associated with the Jedi Mind Trick. My super power would be a psychic power of persuasion and manipulation, able to force criminals to surrender with nothing but the power of my mind. I’d call myself Envoy. And of course I’d be part of a team, serving as strategist and plucky comic relief, I don’t know who’d be on the team, though. We’d fight super criminals, rogue heroes, and the occasional misguided corporation who’s creating and funding super villains or something. I’d fight the forces of evil through either turning them on themselves, or through powers of persuasion.

2. What do you hold sacred (can be anything - even a concept)?

I hold the concept of liberty sacred, and love, and to a lesser extent beauty and truth. I respect organizations, but don’t really find them sacred.

3. What's your backup plan to screenwriting?

…This is my backup, after the whole “jet-setting millionaire playboy, raconteur, and dapper fop by day/masked avenger by night” thing didn’t play out. My backup likely involves either teaching or criticism (film, music, what have you.)

4. Do marriage, family, religion, and the SUV dream fit into your picture of The Ideal Future?

Like the American Dream, such a dream is a beautiful but in the end somewhat impractical ideal. Also, I’d rather die than drive an SUV. Sure, if I met the right person, I’d get married and start a family, but I don’t view it as the driving force in my life. I’m currently unaffiliated religiously, which means I’ll go to purgatory with the Protestants and the Unbaptized Babies when God decides to vaporize the earth in the year 2000.

5. Favorite childhood toy, and why, and what memory do you recall when you see something that reminds you of the toy.

My NES, I think, because I had a load of fun playing it. I remember being 5, around Valentine’s Day, playing Super Mario Bros. 3, and my mom just made peanut butter fudge. I’m not sure why I remember that. Mmm, fudge.

If you want me to ask you some questions, comment and say something to that effect, and I’ll ask you some questions. Oh, memes!

I have no film lecture today, I am elated. Other things to do: work more on my Zentropa paper (ugh;) Screenwriter’s Co-Op (yay;) free Three Stooges 70th anniversary blowout tonight (double yay.)

I remain as ever your humble servant.
