I really love the O'Hara one. The other one is beautiful too, but I really love the O'Hara.

Also, you will do fine. Tears are expected, and I'm sure they will forgive you any vomiting.

UGH that O'Hara one, right. It is everything that I want to feel.

I did both, and it was indeed a peak experience. I was fine until I saw the bride, and then my voice cracked and it was Tears Central. (My friend -- who also cried -- said afterwards, "you think THAT was tearjerking? you should have seen HIS face, looking at her.") So all in all, successful nuptials.

HAPPY BELATED, by the way!!

You sing? What are you singing today? I sang at my sister's wedding/commitment ceremony, and the first dance song forever chokes me up. The only time, all rehearsals included, that I did it without crying, as at the first dance itself. Go figure. The ceremony song was pretty too, but Gulf Coast Highway is like stroking over an ancient raw place for me.

Enjoy a lovely day and evening.

Yeah, it's the sentiments of nostalgia for a time that was lived and felt: happiness and hardship and all, without sentimentality or gratuitous heart-string pulling. It's elegant and simple, and folk music at its best, which is why you and I feel moved by it, even though we don't live there and don't have that particular life. It still connects us to our own places and moments of truly living.

That Dave sings it, completely in awe of getting to sing with Emmylou makes it that much better. She's such a folk music hero. They're both great!!!

hjgdfhk you are more woman than I. I fuckin cried. Luckily, the thing I've learned about singing at friends' weddings is that no one is paying any attention to you because everyone is too busy crying and/or staring at the pretty dresses, so as long as you don't actively throw up, you're fine.

ahaha njkg I meant to tell you in response to your email -- I was trying to think of what you might ask for, based on what I know of your fandoms, and I was like MAYBE SHE'LL WANT A QUIDDITCH FOOTBALL AU WHERE STEVIE & XABS ARE ON GRYFFINDOR AND RAVENCLAW RESPECTIVELY, AND NATASHA KAI IS THE BADASS CAPTAIN OF GRYFFINDOR and then I started laughing aloud. basically, your winning that auction brought me joy before you even told me what was up.
