I have a hard time writing to music with words, so I stick to instrumentals a lot. And I'm insanely drawn to western soundtracks. I know it's weird. I have no idea why it happens, that's just the way the cookie has consistently crumbled. The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford and True Grit are the biggest ones. For the robot Cesc fic, I listened to "The Wicked Flee" and "I Will Carry You" for three days straight and just wrote. I'm not kidding. They have 115 and 110 listens, respectively. The first one for Cesc in general, the second for when Iker starts coming around and really caring for him. To this day, I cannot hear anything from True Grit without associating it with that fic. It's like the unofficial soundtrack. The western part doesn't fit, obviously, but the simplicity of it--the childlike church-y sound that makes you feel sad despite being in this bright major key--completely pegged how I wanted Cesc to come off.
