For the first time in his life, Gaara is alone inside his head. There is no constant whisper from Shukaku, trying to consume him. It’s quiet.
Peaceful.
He can sleep now, and he finds he enjoys the experience. It’s still a novelty to him. He’s so sure that he’s going to wake up and find it was all a trick of the demon’s, and that it has taken advantage of his letting his guard down to destroy everything.
But he wakes up every day to find things more or less how he left them.
There is more paperwork on his desk every day. He suspects it’s breeding.
