She wants to reach out and grab the little boy with the hair like fresh blood. She wants to hold him and pet his hair and tell him that he’s not alone, and that he’s loved.
But she doesn’t dare, lest she pull the demon, the monster that killed her mother, to her. Because it lived inside the little boy, like some malignant cancer, waiting for it’s chance to claw its way out and kill her, just like Mama.
So Temari held her tongue and kept her distance.
