“Now, I’m asking myself, why is this pretty lady sitting all by herself, drinking, when I could be over here making her smile?”
Ray-Ray snorted into her beer. “That is the lamest pick up line I’ve ever heard,” she informed the man sitting across from her. “And believe you me, I’ve heard some bad ones.”
“Did it work?” he asked, fluttering his eyelashes.
“Nope. I am not yet that drunk. Nor am I likely to get that drunk.” She slid out of her seat and over to the jukebox, digging in her pockets until she came up with a few quarters, which she dutifully fed into the slot before making her song selection. It was the same song she’d picked all night.
“You like the oldies?”
“It’s my uncle’s favorite song.”
