Why didn’t you stop her? Jonothon Starsmore roared, psychokinetic flames whirling dangerously around Robert Altman-Kaplan, singing the younger man’s cape. He didn’t so much as wince as the mutant advanced like an unholy inferno.
“It was her choice,” the Crimson Wizard said calmly. “I can’t take away people’s free will. That way lies madness.”
You could have stopped her from leaving!
“Yes, by fighting someone with Omega level powers in the middle of New York City , killing hundreds of bystanders. Then Apocalypse shows up to bust her out, killing thousands.”
You had to have seen what was going to happen, Jono snarled. You could have stopped her before she joined the old bastard!
“Yes,” Robert admitted, “I could have. And then Dexter would have died. Every single way I looked at it, he died, and your daughter joined Apocalypse afterwards or died with him. So yes, I could have done something. But instead I chose to save my friend.”
