“If I had one wish for you, Yasuchika, it would be that you could always be who you are, and not who other people expect you to be.”

Chika looked over his shoulder in the mirror at his older brother, his lip curling into the beginning of a sneer.

“You promised Takashi and Haruhi you wouldn’t fight me today,” he reminded Chika.

“Does that mean I’m going to have to listen to you spout drivel?”

“If that’s what you chose to call it. Straighten your tie.”

Chika’s eyes fell to his tie, and he made a frustrated noise as he fought with it. On any other day, Satoshi would have been the one to take care of this -

-- but Chika and Satoshi weren’t speaking, and hadn’t been for almost a week now. Not since Satoshi…

Chika shook his head. He didn’t have time for this nonsense.

“I told him and he hates me and he’s never gonna speak to me again, Takashi!” Satoshi said miserably, his face in his hands. “He’s making himself miserable, and me miserable, and I hate it.”

Mori blinked and nodded, reaching over and ruffling his brother’s hair.

“Why won’t he just admit it?”

Mori chewed on his words for a long moment. “Because he doesn’t want to disappoint the family.”

“So stupid. Nobody cared when everything thought you and Mitsukuni were.” Satoshi grumbled. “Why should they care that it’s us? It’s not like we’re the firstborns or anything.”

Mori just shrugged.

Chika should have known when he saw the Hitachiin brothers that something was going to happen. But he never expected Haruhi to be in on it.

“You’re not coming out until you two work things out,” she informed him through the door.

“Well…” Satoshi mused, “this is ironic.”

“You cannot leave us locked in here!” Chika called, pounding on the closet door.

“Just watch me.”
