Tommy holds himself apart from the others. Sometimes, it feels like he’s not really one of them.
It’s never more apparent than when the others are talking about Iron Lad. That’s when you can really tell who joined when. Eli, Billy, and Teddy are the ones most likely to bring him up. He picked them to fight Kang, trained with them for almost a month. They call him ‘Nate’.
Kate and Cassie will sometimes bring up something that happened in the fight with Kang… Kate more often than Cassie.
The only one who never talks about Iron Lad is Vision, despite having his brain patterns or whatever (Tommy wasn’t paying that much attention when Vizh explained it). Tommy spends most of his time with Vizh.
Tommy doesn’t want to hear about Iron Lad. Tommy hates Iron Lad.
Whenever Billy or Teddy talk about how Iron Lad ‘saved’ them, he thinks about how he was left to rot in Juvie. He wonders why he was deemed unworthy to stop Kang.
He watches Vision pine for Cassie, who thinks only of Iron Lad, and he hates.
He is alone in his loathing.
