Will Kaplan glanced up from the legal brief on his desk. “Yes, Rebecca?”
His daughter sat in the chair normally reserved for clients, her legs swinging restlessly as she filled out the worksheet on her lap. “Why couldn’t I stay with Daddy for this?”
“Because he stays at home.”
“But he’s on call when he’s at home. And we live in the Avengers home base,” Becca pointed out.
“Well, you get to see that stuff all the time,” Will reminded her. “Besides, you’re supposed to give a report for class, and you’re not supposed to talk about the Avengers at school.”
“Yeah, but this is boring.”
“You got to meet Howard the Duck. Besides, this is important.”
“Mr. Barton says that lawyers are evil. Are you secretly a super-villain, Poppa?” Becca’s legs continued to swing as she gnawed on her pencil.
“Mr. Barton says that because his ex is dating a lawyer now. He likes to exaggerate.”
