Universe: That Damn MPreg
Rating: G
Summary: Meet the next generation of Young Avengers
The Vision 2.0 made a noise that, had he been human, would have been a clearing of his throat. Seven sets of eyes turned towards him expectantly. Had he been human, he might have been disconcerted by suddenly being the center of attention, but he was the Vision. The Vision did not get disconcerted.
[As you were informed when you joined,] he said, [you do not have to reveal your civilian identities to your teammates. Your privacy will be respected. The Avengers will remain the only ones aware of your real names unless you choose to disclose them] Not that most of you don't already know each other, he thought. Personally, he found the whole thing a little silly, but the children had the right to choose.
[Iron Hide.]
Vision heard the quiet sound of armor moving as Dexter Stein moved his head. --Here,-- he said, his voice made tinny by the speakers it came through. He was one of the ones who insisted on the Secret Identity rule. Apparently, he wasn't too keen to let anyone know that the son of Avengers leader Heroine was running around in high tech armor created from his super villain grandparents' designs.
[Archer.]
"Here, sir." The red haired son of Clint Barton by way of a brief affair with a Daily Bugle reporter smiled shyly. "Most've you already know this, but I'm Wally." He had his bow propped against his chair, and his quiver as his feet. "Hi, guys."
[Spider-Boy.]
"Up here." Benji Parker said, clinging to the ceiling. He wiggled her web patterned spandex covered fingers at his teammates.
[Wolfman Jack.]
Bruce Jameson lazily waved a green fur covered arm, lips pulled back to reveal his big, sharp teeth. The gamma green lycanthrope snapped playfully at Spider-Boy, his tail wagging as he turned his gaze on the last three recruits, sitting off by themselves. Heroine had already dubbed the three The Unholy Trio.
[Streak.]
"I didn't do it!" the black haired speedster yelped, her attention torn from her cell phone. "Whatever it is, it wasn't me!" Rachel 'Ray-Ray' Shepard looked at the Vision with wide eyes. "I have an alibi!"
[A simple 'here' would have been sufficient. Crimson Wizard.]
Ray-Ray's high-strung cousin swept a hand through his silvery hair and glanced quickly around the room. "Yeah. Um. Here." Robert Altman-Kaplan said.
[Protean]
"Sir." Rebecca Altman-Kaplan said, her voice a bass rumble. Vision remained mildly surprised that the eldest of the Altman-Kaplan children had adopted a male identity for her super-heroic identity... but only mildly. The girl had always valued her privacy, and very few people would ever think to associate tall, muscular Protean with the petite Rebecca.
[All present, then.] the Vision said. [Excellent. While the Avengers feel that this is a matter best decided amongst yourselves, for this training exercise, Protean will be acting as team leader."
"Why does pretty boy get to be boss?" Bruce demanded, jerking a thumb in Rebecca's direction. All eyes turned towards the shape-shifter, awaiting a rebuttal.
"Previous experience." Rebecca rumbled. "I was acting leader of another small group of young heroes before now."
Which Vision knew translated into 'I'm good at bossing my brothers and cousins around.'
"How come I've never heard of you before?" Bruce growled.
Rebecca sniffed disdainfully. "I do this to help people, not make headlines."
"Oh," Bruce said, equally disdainful. "A D-Lister."
The air was thick with tension as Bruce sneered at Rebecca. The shape-shifter very slowly stood, padding over to where the green wolf-man lounged. Her bare feet made no sound as she moved.
Protean didn't need shoes.
Moving with the kind of speed that belied the size of her current form, Rebecca grabbed Bruce's muzzle and planted both feet in his abdomen. Vision watched her grow a very impressive set of claws, and heard Bruce whimper softly. "If I'm a D-Lister, what does this say about you?"
[That is enough, Protean.] Vision warned.
"Yes, sir." Rebecca let Bruce go, sauntering back to her seat.
