Jono detested hospitals with a passion. There was something about the smells, the frantic antiseptic stinks failing to cover the more organic stench of illness and death, that made his hair stand on end. The very thought of it made his skin was to crawl off his bones.
But Jubilee was hurting, and someone needed to stay with her. He’d known her the longest, so he stayed, and he held her hand.
