“Eric was the best of us,” Didi said, nodding to the team picture Victor had been studying. “Out of all of us, I think he was the only honest-to-God hero.”

“Says the woman who puts on a suit of armor and fights intergalactic crime lords and evil masterminds on a daily basis,” the mutant said dryly.

Didi shook her head, smiling sadly. “I’m just trying to make up for everything my mother did. Eric wanted to be a hero.” She snorted. “You know what most people call us? The Lost Generation. The children and grandchildren of superheroes… and most of us are so damn determined to be normal, it’s almost scary. It’s like we don’t have the spirit.”

“I don’t know,” Victor mused. “Going your own way’s a brave thing to do, especially when people have expectations.”

“Always seemed like a waste of talent to me. Hell, what I could do with Bobby Lee’s powers…”

“I thought he was a superhero.”

Didi shook her head again, the light glinting off her glasses. “You’re thinking of Bobbi Rae, and that’s only when she’s in control of the body. Not that they really count, since they’re so much older than the rest of us…”

x-men, that damn mpreg
