“I wish your mate would stop looking at my hatchling like that,” Xavin murmured softly, not quite looking at Ted.
“He worries,” Ted murmured back. “Especially after what happened to Bobby. He gives the same look to everyone the kids get close to.”
“I doubt very much that Deanna is going to attempt to abscond with or assassinate Jeffery,” Xavin reminded the half-Skrull. “This is… a temporary interest, I’m sure. Your hatchling rarely gets to see beings who resemble himself.”
“Careful, Xavin,” Ted warned, half seriously. “You’ll tempt the fates.”

“I think it’s cute,” Karolina announced. “Dee’s first crush. I should be taking pictures or something.”
“I would feel better if William would stop glaring,” Xavin said, just a little huffy.
“You worry too much, and so does he.”
