Megan propped her head up on her hands, her fingers tucked under her chin, and looked right at Tommy. “What do I have to do to get you to stop pouting?” she asked before blowing a little bubble with her gum.
“I’m not pouting,” Tommy insisted, turning away as he thrust out his lower lip. “Pouting’s for girls. I’m scowling. And I’m doing it in a very manly way,” he added, his eyes narrowing. “And if you say otherwise, I’ll blow up your favorite stuffed animals.”
“Fine, fine, it’s a very manly pout. Are all speedsters secretly five?”
“Scowl,” Tommy insisted. “Not pout. Scowl.” He pounced suddenly, pinning Megan to the table. “Say it.”
The girl squirmed and smirked ever so slightly. “It’s. A. Pout.”
“For that,” Tommy announced, his fingers dancing swiftly across Megan’s ribs until he found the spot he knew her to be the most ticklish, “you will pay.”
