Summary: There’s just something about time travel.
“Things have changed a lot,” Jean-Paul Martin said, his chin resting on the palm of his hand while he channel surfed restlessly. “The television alone... all these channels…”
“And yet,” Vic noted dryly as he let Jean-Paul continue his exploration of Xavier’s cable package, “there is nothing worth watching.”
The young, time displaced mutant grunted in agreement. “You seem to be taking this very well,” he noted.
Vic shrugged slightly. “Time travel seems to happen a lot around here. In fact, this is the second time it’s happened with you, if I remember right.”
“This is all very confusing,” Jean-Paul admitted, still flipping through the channels.
“Time travel things usually are. The popular theory is that by you traveling to here and now, you’ve created an alternate time line from this one. It probably won’t actually have any effect on this timeline, but somewhere out there is a universe where Jean-Paul Martin just disappeared.”
“I still don’t get it.”
“Sometimes you just have to go with the flow.”
“You’re being very helpful,” Jean-Paul said, his voice touched with suspicion. “Why?”
“In this time line…” Vic paused. “You were a huge influence on me, and you helped me through some stuff.” He smiled shyly. “It’s only fair that I pay it back.”
Both of Jean-Paul’s eyebrows rose slightly. “I did?”
“Don’t sound so surprised. You’re a role model to a lot of people.”
“I am very confused,” Jean-Paul murmured as he hit a Queer as Folk rerun.
