Title: Building a House Part 3: Exterior
Universe: Young Avengers, House of M AU
Rating: PG
Summary: Because I can't seem to stop writing Billy and Teddy, and because this plot bunny won't leave me alone, and because I keep reading those godawful romances at the library.

"He seems to be leaving."

Dorrek gave K'lrt a small nod, indicating that he had heard what the Super-Skrull had said, even though he'd already figured it out for himself. After all, it wasn't like he hadn't been watching.

Not that he would do something like stare at the dark haired prince every change he got. He was an Emperor, after all. And Emperors did not stare like lovesick puppies.

He had hoped the prince would return once the princess was finished with him, but instead he had obliged the Kenyan queen with a dance, and was now slipping out the exterior doors and into the night. Dorrek had hoped to talk to him, perhaps try the dancing that the other guests were doing. He was growing quite sick of the humans who offered him false smiles and mouthed empty platitudes at him.

"Kl'rt, I need some air."

"Be careful, Majesty."

"As always."

William had danced three more rounds with his mother and once with Queen Ororo before he felt he could safely escape. He chose to go through the palace gardens, knowing that no one out there would feel the need to talk to him.

"Billy, wait!"

Theoretically.

William's steps slowed enough that the Skrull Emperor easily caught up with him. "May I help you, Your Majesty?"

The blonde gave William a slightly hurt look. "Alright, maybe I should have told you. But you didn't tell me you were a prince."

William stared at the Skrull Emperor for a long moment, then started to laugh. "Alright," the prince said between chuckles, "you win. Can we start over?"

"Can we not? I rather like that we've got most of the awkwardness out of the way." He closed in on William, coming close enough that they could touch. "Billy." Dorrek reached out and touched the hair on the nape of his neck.

William felt heat rising on his face, and he looked around quickly to make sure they weren't being watched. He couldn't see anyone, but that was never a guarantee of privacy. He opened his mouth to tell Dori as much, but then Dori was kissing him. He tasted like oranges. Had there been oranges? He didn't recall seeing the fruit on the table.

The dark haired prince put his hands on Dori's chest and gently pushed him away. "Not here," he gasped, noting the young emperor's faintly hurt look. "Anyone could see."

Understanding flashed through pale blue eyes, and he nodded. "The roof," he whispered, "in an hour." He let William go, stepping back.

The prince nodded, watching Dorrek go back inside. The blonde paused at the doors, flashing William a shy smile. William found himself smiling back, even as the doors shut behind the emperor.

"Well. Isn't this an interesting development."

William spun around to find his twin perched on the edge of a nearby fountain, one leg drawn up so his chin was resting on his knee. He was dressed in a pair of slightly ratty jeans and a tee-shirt that advocated the stabbing of stupid people.

"Tommy, this isn't what it looks like."

"Really? Cause it looks like you were kissing a boy."

"... okay, maybe it is what it looks like."

"Grandfather would have kittens if he knew."

William looked at his brother pleadingly. "Please don't tell anyone."

Thomas stared up at the night sky as if he could pluck his answer from the air. He was very, very quiet and unnaturally still (for Thomas). The leg not pulled against his chest swung slowly, the heel of his shoe tapping against the basin. "Fine. But you owe me."

William pounced on his brother, hugging him tightly. "I won't forget this!" he promised before dashing off into the night. He only had an hour to get ready.

Thomas grinned to himself as his brother ran off. "Dork."
