Title: Epilogue: Funeral for an Enemy
Universe: That Damn Mpreg
Rating: PG
Summary: Gunther disbelieved the illusion.

Gunther Thorson was decidedly unimpressed by the turnout. That was what sealed the deal for him. There was no way that Robert Altman-Kaplan was dead. This was just a trick to throw Gunther off while he plotted. But Gunther wasn’t falling for it.

The Asgardian god looked around at the paltry showing of mortals. Where was the outpouring of grief? Couldn’t these worms at least try to put on a proper show?

He saw the sorcerer’s latest apprentice, decked out in his master’s gear, looking faintly ill and more than a little lost.

Foolish infant.

Gunther checked the enchanted compass in his hand. It was certainly the sorcerer’s physical body being lowered into the ground. At least he was making an effort. But Gunther wasn’t tricked for a moment. As soon as that fool thought it was safe to come out, Gunther would be there, ready to make the ruse a reality.

The false mourners drifted away, finally leaving Gunther, son of Thor, to stand vigil.

“I’m on to you. You may have everyone else fooled, but not me. I know you. You can’t be dead.”
