“You are my greatest joy,” Karolina whispered in broken Skrullos, stroking her daughter’s hair. “So you need to get better.”
The little girl squirmed a bit, watching her mother. She tried to smile and Karolina turned to look at Xavin, who watched them both silently.
“You will soon be well,” Xavin said. “And then we will go and visit Earth. I’m sure that Jeffery is looking forward to seeing you again. That will be fun.”
Deanna nodded, trying to summon up another smile.
“Get some rest, honey,” Karolina whispered. “It’s all gonna be okay.”
