“I’m late,” Will muttered under his breath as he helped Valeria and Dr. Strange stem the tide of Mindless Ones trying to push their way through the dimensional rift.
“What?” Valeria called over the noise, adding more strength to the barrier spell.
“Nate’s soccer game. At this rate, I’m going to miss the whole thing.”
“Somehow,” Dr. Strange grunted, “I believe he will manage just fine without you.”
“I don’t like missing those things,” Will snapped back. “It’s important to him, and it’s important to me.”
“Priorities, Mr. Kaplan,” Dr. Strange replied calmly. “Saving this dimension from invasion is more important that some little game.”
Wisely, neither Valeria nor Will brought up the doctor’s own absent offspring, who had, when last anyone heard, run off to Tibet.
