“You,” Kate said with no small amount of irritation as she jammed her elbow into Eli’s gut, “are doing me not favors by going easy on me.”
Eli let out a breath and rubbed his middle. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he muttered grumpily.
“I’ve seen what you can do, Eli.” She spun around, dark eyes flashing. “You can hold your own against Teddy, and you treat me like spun glass.”
“I do not.”
“Okay, slight exaggeration, but you never give me everything you’ve got. That,” she said, poking Eli in the chest, “isn’t going to help me when I’m out there. You know. Where I’m going to be going up against guys just as strong as you, if not stronger. Do you see where I’m going here?”
“Yeah, I get it.” Eli brushed Kate’s hand away. “Let’s try that move again.”
