Tommy went through a series of elaborate stretches, eyeing the water with a certain amount of well deserved anxiety. Vision was waiting patiently, like a calm, skinny Buddha. Tommy backed up a bit and tried not to think about the pool back at the prison, where he had almost drowned when the scientists had tried to get him to do this. “Ready?”

“Right.” Tommy backed up a bit more and fell into a runner’s starting crouch. Running on water was not as easy as it looked.
