Molly was the one who finally asked the question that had been on all of their minds since they’d met for coffee that day. “When did we turn into grown ups?”
There was a long moment of contemplative silence, broken only by Xavin slurping down an iced coffee.
“I’d say it was when Nico sued to get us our inheritances,” Chase finally suggested. “It’s hard to be a runaway when you’ve got a house in Malibu.”
“What kind of kid does that?” Nico asked. “It had to have happened before then.”
“The revolution succeeded,” Gert said with a little snort. “We’ve become The Establishment.”
“And it’s not so bad,” Chase admitted with a touch of reluctance.
