There was a very clear division between the parts of Kate’s life, and it was never clearer than at her funeral. On one side were the people from the numerous charitable organizations she had often devoted her time and money to, and her sister’s children. On the other side were the costumed heroes, her friends and colleagues, the family she had made for herself.
There was also Eli’s family, the only group that seemed able to mingle between the two sets. Kate had been a favorite Auntie amongst the Bradleys, and had been closer to them than she was with her own nieces and nephews. She had even gone so far as to leave the bulk of her estate to Eli’s younger sister, after making several very generous charitable contributions.
There had been grumblings on the part of Kate’s family about contesting the will, but a few idle comments from her lawyer at GLK&H had put an end to that swiftly.
