Author's Notes: Nate has a confession to make. Part of my That Damn Mpreg series.
The little replica of the Time Square Ball floated in front of Ted as if held aloft by invisible strings. It landed in the palm of his youngest son’s outstretched hand, and then was crumpled up like so much tinfoil by forces that Ted couldn’t see.
“That,” he admitted slowly, “goes a long way towards explaining a lot of things. But it doesn’t explain how you fooled the scanners.”
“Micro-shape shifting,” Nate said, making the broken toy float again. “And a little help from Hal. It takes me a while to go from one to the other, and he covers for me during the in-between.”
Ted snatched the twisted hunk of metal out of the air, and felt it resist being moved until Nate let it go. “How long?”
Nate shrugged. “Forever.”
“Who knows, besides Hal?”
“Jeff, Becca… Bobby probably knows, though he hasn’t said anything. Precogs are freaky like that.” Nate looked up at his father, red curls falling into his eyes and making him look young and fragile. “How can I tell Pop without having him freak?”
“Not gonna happen, sport.”
