There were times when Julian Keller wondered what mad impulse had lead him to accept the job of Headmaster at the Xavier Institute. He sometimes wondered if it wasn’t something Ms. Frost had planted in his head as payback for some youthful folly. A little post mortem vengeance, as it were.
“Okay, do any of you want to tell me why you felt the need to change Ezekiel’s code name from ‘Scryer’ to ‘Bicycle’?” And why you thought you could get away with hacking into the school computers? he thought, but did not add.
“Because everyone gets a ride?” Ana Rasputin suggested, squirming in her seat and not quite looking at the headmaster. She easily dwarfed all her co-conspirators save Ambrose, being dark and stocky, like her father.
“You know what? I really, really don’t want to know.”
