“You don’t really look like an Illyana,” Lucy Guthrie said, perching on the statue’s pedestal and drumming her heels on the ground, peering at the other girl through her veil.
“Yeah, I know.” Illyana Rasputin said, tugging at the weeds that were trying to take root in the memorial garden. “An Illyana should be cute and delicate, and I… am not.” She made the weed in her hand phase out of synch with the ground and pulled it up, tossing it into the bucket.
“You’re not un-cute,” Lucy argued. “You’re… generously proportioned and healthy looking.”
“I’m a cow.” She stood up, tucking a few stray hairs behind her ear. “I tower over all the other girls and more than a few of the boys, and I outweigh them by about forty pounds. God, I’m not a cow, I’m an elephant.” She made a disgusted noise and scooped up the bucket of weeds.
“You’re not an elephant, Ana, and you need to stop trying to steal Zeke’s Drama Queen title. I think you’re… very pretty, actually.”
