“For someone so fast,” Nico said, pressing a cup of coffee into Victor’s hands, “Tommy sure does end up in the infirmary a lot.”
Victor took a brief sip of the dark brew before he started emptying sugar packets into it from the pile at his elbow. “The problem is that he’s always out in front. Who’s watching Rachel?”
Nico sank into the room’s other chair. “Gert’s letting her ride around on Old Lace. She promised to take cute pictures for us to share later. Any word from your friend yet?”
“Alani said they found Josh in Argentina, and they’re flying him in as soon as possible. Is Will…?”
Nico looked into the cup of Chai in her hand. “Disoriented and puking his guts out when I checked. Ted’s hovering like a mother hen…” She gave Victor a sardonic little smile.
“We’re not hovering,” Victor insisted. “We’re gossiping. We just happen to be doing it in the same room Tommy’s recovering in, that’s all. We could both leave at any time if we wanted to.”
“Hear, hear.” Nico raised her tee in a toast.
