Tommy yelped and nearly jumped out of his skin when the blankets dropped on him. Kate stood over him, her hands on her hips. “You should have told me you were sleeping in the Lair.”
“Aren’t you supposed to be on a family vacation in France?” Tommy asked, scrambling to his feet.
“Dad needed to come back early. I brought Krispy Kremes and coffee.”
Tommy made an attempt at making himself presentable, not looking at Kate as she kicked the nest of blankets he’d made for himself. It was way too early in the morning, and Kate would kick his ass if he tried any of his usual sarcasm.
“Welcome home,” he mumbled.
