It felt like something was boring into Billy’s head. It felt like he was being watched. His skin wanted to crawl away.
“I’m just being paranoid,” he told himself, closing his locker and resting his forehead against the cool metal. He winced as a locker a little ways down slammed shut, pain building behind his eyes. He hadn’t been getting much sleep lately, especially after the bird had smashed into his bedroom window. That and the rash of crimes committed by the Young Masters of Evil had totally sapped his energy.
Something dark caught Billy’s eye, and he turned his head just in time to catch a profile that he had been growing far too familiar with lately. “No. No, no, no...” He fumbled for his cell phone, watching the girl’s retreating back. “Teddy, that psycho witch really is following me, I saw her, she’s at my school-”

“Oh my God,” Teddy whispered, one hand resting on Billy’s bicep as they stood outside his school. “It’s her. She’s really here She’s stalking you or something.”
“You said I was being paranoid,” Billy hissed back.
“Paranoia is a survival trait,” Teddy admitted. “How long till the others get here?”
“How long are you two dweebs going to follow me?” Morrigan growled, turning around and marching right up to Billy and Teddy. “No sudden moves, unless you want to blow all our secret identities. While I’m sure I can take you both down easy, I’m also sure nobody wants to pull all these innocent civilians into our little scuffle. Right?”
Billy jerked back, meeting the girl’s green eyes as Teddy moved between then, bulking up slightly as he did so. She smirked, cocking her head as Teddy’s hands balled into fists. “I won’t let you hurt him again.”
“Wow. This is the second time in as many weeks that I’ve heard that from one of you guys.” She zipped her jacket up and pushed her bag until it hung behind her. “You two are the ones following me. I haven’t done anything... yet.”
“Then what are you doing at my school?” Billy demanded, half stepping out from behind Teddy.
“Your school, Kaplan?” She sneered, letting the name roll off her tongue like poisoned honey. “Such arrogance. You really know how to piss me off.” She dug her hands into he pockets and rocked back on her heels. “Fuck this, I’ve got better things to do with my time.”
Teddy grabbed Morrigan by the arm as she started to leave, only to feel it slide out of his hand like so much water. She grinned, disappearing like the Cheshire Cat before Teddy could stop her.
“What did she mean, ‘second time’?” Billy asked.
