“I don’t know what I’m doing, Ted,” Victor said, slouching in his seat and tilting his head back until he was looking at the ceiling. Someone had left footprints all over it recently.
“A seventeen year old kid.”
Victor jerked his head around to glare at the half-Skrull shape shifter. “Ha fucking ha.”
Ted inhaled slowly. “I’m not being funny, Vic. Aiden is Tom’s great-grandson. This is just all kinds of weird, and you know it.”
“He makes me feel something other than lost. I like him, and it’s not like I’m doing anything illegal.” Victor returned his attention to the ceiling and the mysterious footprints, ignoring Ted’s disapproving frown. “I can count the number of people I know who are my age on one hand. It’s… one minute, I’ve got a life, a family, and the next I’m a million years from home, and all the people I knew and loved are dead. So don’t you try to tell me that there’s something wrong with the one thing in this whole mess that makes me happy.”
