There was something about the speedster that wore Alex out. Maybe it was because he couldn’t even hold still long enough for Alex to explain just what was going on. “There have always been the Four to stand between the Earthly Realm and the evil of the outer dimensions. The Magus, the Royal, the Cosmic, and the Juggernaut. They’ve had many names over the centuries, but there are always four defenders. Do you understand what I’m saying so far?”
“Everything but what this has to do with me,” Aiden yawned. “You gonna be making a point any time soon, guy?”
“I’ve been trying, but you won’t hold still long enough to listen!” Alex snapped. “We, you and I, are supposed to be part of the Four in this time.”
“But that’s only two,” Aiden pointed out with a kind of bored logic.
“Princess Cera’al is the third, and I’m trying to find the forth. This would go a lot faster if you would actually help me instead of watching me like I’m some kind of science project.”
“Why should I?”
“So we can save the world.”
“Guy, you are talking to the wrong Shepard. You want Gabe.”
“You’re supposed to be the Magus! You have the Staff of One!”
“Doesn’t mean I’m just gonna run off and be a super-hero because some undead guy says I should be.”
