Summary: “I’m starting to think you don’t love me anymore.”
Surdani stood very, very still as Ahura ran his nails lightly down the side of her neck. “You never visit me,” he said softly, gathering her long black hair up and piling it on top of her head. “I’m starting to think you don’t love me anymore.”
She stared into the mirror, still holding perfectly still, saying nothing and showing nothing. Her face was like a mask.
“You are your father’s daughter,” Ahura sighed, studying the curve of her slender neck with a singular intensity. “My lovely queen.” He pressed a kiss to the pale skin of her throat and felt her tremble as he put his hands on her shoulders, letting the dark hair fall back into place.
He completely missed the flash of movement in the mirror of the Royal Guard coming in to position.
Surdani inhaled sharply and spoke a single word.
“Stop.”
Ahura froze, and Surdani pulled free. She turned suddenly, bringing her foot up until it connected with his jaw, sending him flying back.
