“I can hear her,” Ahura said rapturously, slowly turning to face the glass wall of his prison, and his brother on the other side. “In my mind, with her every word. She sings, my Queen…”
Dramari sat on the floor, his legs drawn up to his chest, watching his mad older brother the way some people watched wild animals at the zoo. “Now, I know the Genetic Council has no problems with cousins marrying, but I really don’t think they’re about to approve of you for Surdani, what with you being her brother and all.” He cocked his head to one side. “That and you’re insane.”
Ahura approached the glass, studying his brother the same way he was being studied. “You haven’t embraced your uniqueness,” he noted. “She did, but you… didn’t.”
“I’m already unique,” Dramari said, stretching out on the floor like a cat in the sun. “Why should I change myself just because others say I should?”
Ahura smiled. “And you call me mad.”
“Well, I’m told it does run in the family.”
