Christian Summers licked his lips and gently prodded the stitches running along his belly.
“If you pick,” his half sister Rachel pointed out, “it won’t heal. You wanna hold her?”
“God no,” Christian moaned, flopping back on the bed. “It’s a girl?” he added.
“A very pretty little girl,” Rachel confirmed.
“Ten fingers, ten toes, blonde curls,” Daemon added helpfully. “Very normal. I was expecting a tail.”
“I told you, that was an umbilical cord.” Christian sighed. “Where the fuck is Sean?”
“Just been extracted from Cassidy Keep, when I talked to Jenny,” Daemon replied. “He’ll be here soon enough, and you two will bicker at each other.”
“Bastard.” Christian turned his head so that he could see his demonic cousin. “This being born on Christmas thing, under all the weird circumstances… that doesn’t make her, I dunno, the Anti-Christ or anything, does it?”
“Don’t be absurd.” Daemon rolled his eyes. “Though her skin is very red and wrinkly, isn’t it. Like those dogs.”
“New babies tend to be,” Rachel said. “So, what are you gonna call her?”
“Fuck if I know. Didn’t think this would actually end in a baby.”
“Really?” Daemon asked. “That is a rather long name.”
“You could name her after your mother,” Rachel suggested, grudgingly.
“Emma? Christ, no.”
“Her hair’s kind of white,” Daemon noted. “What about Bianca, or Xanthe?”
“I’d never be that mean to my kid. I’ll come up with something later.”
