Victor inhaled deeply, enjoying the smells of the theatre. Old props and backgrounds were leaning against the walls next to old costumes stored in cedar chests and guarded by mothballs.
He loved the smell of an empty theatre. Some people thought it was desolate, but Victor thought it was magical. Like it was waiting for someone to come in and wake up the potential.
When he listened, he thought he could hear the sounds of old monologues echoing through the empty space, calling for him to answer them, begging him to speak them again.
Here, in the theatre, he could be anyone.
