It was Frank Dean who finally said, “Am I the only one of us who finds this whole thing to be faintly ridiculous?” He looked down at the thick black book in his hand, tracing the red, six-toed footprint on the cover. “We’re supposed to become the secret masters of this city by worshiping ancient giants and giving them the lives of children. It’s… silly.”
“That kind of talk leads to people being left to die when the world is remade,” Leslie sniped back. “Which means I’m going to be the one who gets to launch the big attack and take over Majesdane… or let the Skrulls burn it to a cinder and then take them out. I haven’t decided which appeals to me more yet.” She tweaked his nose and laughed.
