My Table Victor wasn’t sure who’s idea it was to hand mistletoe in every doorway, bit if he ever found out, he was going to thank them. Maybe with a fruit basket or something. He was also going to thank Santo for blocking the way in to the buffet Ms. Frost had set up, forcing Jean-Paul Beaubier to stand still.
“You’ve been avoiding me.”
Jean-Paul studied Santo’s back, looking for a way around before looking at Victor. “All things considered, I think that’s for the best.”
“Because you broke my nose, or because I broke yours?”
“I let you hit me,” he said. “Try it again and you will regret it.”
Victor rolled his eyes. “If I was going to hit you again, would I be standing here, right where you can see me? I just want to talk. It’s not like either of us are going anywhere, unless you want to try and move Santo… or give up on the food.”
Jean-Paul grunted, and Victor sighed. He rocked on from his heels to his toes and planted a kiss on the corner of Jean-Paul’s scowling mouth. “Anyway, Merry Christmas. See ya.” He walked away, keeping his grin in check until he was well away from the Canadian super-hero.
