“Okay, so,” Angel said, running her tongue over her teeth as she stood in the middle of the fireproof room, a hand in the middle of Lucy Guthrie’s back, “this is where we’re gonna test out your powers. They already got you all the fireproof clothes?” Lucy nodded, tugging on the scarf wrapped around her head and looking down at her feet. “Fantastic. Headmaster Keller asked me to help you find your way about. And if it comes down to it, I keep your fire under control.”
Lucy glanced up at Angel through painfully thick eyelashes, and she nodded.
“I know you can talk, little bird. I know you big sis, remember?” Angel swept her hand back from her face briefly. “Okay, follow me and I’ll show you the Danger Room proper, then we can get some nibbles. I know this place is a proper maze, but I’ll help you find your way around, no worries. You’ll like it here.”
She lead Lucy along, blowing out a little plume of fire along with a sigh.
