"So," Bobby asked as he gulped down a warm soda, "how many Altman-Kaplans are there in this universe?"

"Two, just Wanda and me" Laura replied. "Aside from our dads of course."

"Well, parents don't count," Bobby said and then added, "Becca and I have two more at home."

"Wow,' Laura said, surprised, "I can't imagine what it'd be like to have two more siblings."

"It's irritating. More so since Jeff ran off to outer space chasing a piece of Majesdane tail." He paused thoughtfully. "And maybe becoming Skrull Emperor."

"Well, if you're going to live in space, being Emperor of an entire race is the way to do it," Laura said jokingly.

"As long as you don't mind turning yourself into a walking target practice dummy," Bobby replied. "It's bad enough just being a prince."

"It's not like aliens don't try to mess with our families anyway," Laura pointed out with a dismissive shrug, "might as well do what you can."

"Do they come after you often?" Bobby asked. "We haven't seem much from the Skrulls since Pop went Jean Grey on their asses last time someone decided Becca would make for a good political pawn. Or possibly wife. I was never really clear on the motivation there."

"Not so much anymore," Laura answered. A moment later she added, "Of course that might have something to do with the fact that the Empire pissed off a few too many cosmic powers all at once and is now busy scrapping itself up and trying to put itself back together. But they were pretty fixated on getting us for a while, we even had to go to them to make sure they understood that we wanted to be left alone."

"And that actually worked?" Bobby asked, surpirsed. "Cool."

"Like I said, it helps that they pretty much got squished around that time. We even did some of it ourselves," Laura explained. "We'll see if they got the message if they recover."

"Any problems with the Shi'ar?" Bobby asked.

"Not lately. They've been pretty quiet since they killed Jean Grey," Laura replied with a shrug. Even when they had been actively interested in Earth she'd never really had to deal with them personaly.

"How many times has she died in this universe? Just out of curiosity?" Bobby asked.

"Do you have a calculator?" Laura said, rolling her eyes. "But this one's probably for good. The Phoenix Force apparently found a new host to live in and has been behaving since then."

"Same thing happened to us, but she stopped at five in our universe," Bobby added.

"I am a bit worried that we don't know who exactly it decided to go to," Laura said, a touch of fear in her voice.

"You don't have anyone who can track her?" Bobby asked, surprised.

"Not really, she just kind of vanished," Laura answered with a helpless shrug. "The Phoenix is pretty much power incarnate, capable of doing almost anything it wants, if it wants to hide there's not much we can do."

"Very true," Bobby conceded. "Okay, who are your X-Men? What strange new directions has the Summers clan taken?"

After taking a few moments to think about it Laura replied, "Well, in the latest generation, there's Rachel, Nate, Ethan, Helena and Cody for the Summers clan. Not sure who else exactly is an X-Man though, I dont spend a lot of time with them. You'd be better off asking ray when we get him back, he hangs around the mansion a lot."

"We've got a Rachel and a Nate." Bobby said, ticking things off on his fingers. "And a Christian, he's a Frost-Summers. Oh, and a half-demon Summers spawn named Daemon."

"They're breeding with demons now?" Laura asked with definite surprise. "That's a new one, unless you count Polaris."

"She's dead in our universe. Went with Cyclops and the White Queen," Bobby added.

"They're all still alive in ours," Laura said. After a second she added, "Not that they haven't been dead at various points, it just doesn't stick."

"It's stuck so far with them," Bobby said. "How about your Starsmores? We've got an Angel and a Zeke."

"We've only got one, Eliza, but she's enough of a handful to count as two," Laura said, rolling her eyes at the thought of the young woman in question. Laura might not be as familiar with the X-Men as the others but that woman's reputation was well know and, if what Raymonde told them was true, very well earned. And from those few times they'd met she had no reason to doubt it.

"Ooh, Zeke's more than enough of a handful," Bobby said with a look that someone could have almost called 'fond'.

"They can be fun, can't they?" Laura said with a small grin.

"Well, the empathic ones anyway. Angel..." His eyes took on a distant look. "Angel's not on the side of the angels, if you'll pardon the pun."

"Seems to be a pattern with Angels," Laura pointed out.

"God knows I don't want to be an angel when I die," Bobby sang softly.

"Going to be a bad little boy, hmm?" Laura asked Bobby teasingly.

"As my dear sister would assure you, I am absolutely awful," Bobby said with what sounded like a hint of pride."But that's just because she's a prude."

"Not to mention kind of a bitch. No offense," Laura added almost as an after thought.

"Not just any bitch," Bobby corrected. "Becca is a certifiable, grade A Alpha Bitch. Personally I blame it on her being first born. That and her being Kl'rt's favorite."

"Heh, must be a family thing 'cause Wanda's the same," Laura said with a nod. "Oh, and who is Kl'rt?"

".... the Super Skrull." Bobby said. "About yea tall generally, all the powers of the Fantastic Four, Frenched Ben Grimm at my parents' wedding in my universe."

"Oh....him," Laura said, her mood darkening noticably as she said it.

"That is the tone of someone who has not experianced him as a positive role model. Lemme guess... tried to kidnap one or both of you?"

"Yes, and he almost succeded," Laura said, angered at the memory. "Then we got mad."

"Our Kl'rt always lived in appropriate terror of what would happen if he so much as looked at any of us funny." Bobby clucked his tongue, shaking his head.

"Our's didn't get the chance, his first attempt was his last as well," Laura explained with a self satisfied smirk.

"Good policy."

"It seems to be fairly effective, though the Empire didn't appreciate us killing him."

"Our universe's Skrulls haven't been unified enough to have an Emperor... which is probably why we always had more problems with the goddamn Shi'ar."

"Shi'ar huh? What was that like?" Laura asked, curious.

"My youngest brother still has the scar from when a Shi'ar assassin blew a hole in his chest."

Laura winced at that, "Sounds nasty."

"Was. Is."

"If the opportunity presents itself I recomend sicking the Phoenix on them, it worked wonders for us."

"I try to avoid cosmic entity types. Bruce is bad enough, and he's only got a fraction of the power of the Stargod," Bobby explained.

"I wasn't recomending bonding with it," Laura explained, "that's a sure path to trouble. You're right about cosmic entities being a pain though. Galactus given you guys any trouble lately?"

"Last anyone heard, he was stalking Ego the Living Planet."

"Better than trying to munch on Earth. Our's has a new herald with a grudge against a lot of alien powers," Laura said, a touch of worry in her voice.

"Oh God. Is there anything more obnoxious than a Herald? They think they's special." He laughed. "I think there may be more Herlads than there are Guthries."

"But not quite as many as there are Summers," Laura countered with a grin. The Summers family's size and constant series of insane events had become sort of a running joke throughout the hero community, addmittedly a great deal of that was directly due to Raymonde's enjoyment of making fun of them.

"Not in our universe. I think it's part of a plan for global domination."

"I wouldn't put it past them," Luara said, glad to be back on a lighter topic.

"So, about your speedster..." Bobby began.

"Ray? What about him?"

"He single?"

Laura chuckled, "Last time I checked. A relationship would get in the way of him climbing on top of anything with a pulse. Or underneath. Or in-between. You get the idea."

"Sounds like my kind of guy." Bobby paused. "He's not a Shepard, is he? Cause that would be weird."

"Nope, he's a Beaubier and a Drake, but not a Shepard," Laura confirmed.

"... a Drake?"

"As in Bobby Drake, you know, Iceman?" Laura clarified.

Bobby just stared at Laura for a long moment, then burst out into giggles. "Oh, Zeke is going to love hearing this. And Lucian. I have to tell him when I get back."

"Oh?"

"Lucian is my universe's resident Beaubier. He's... lets just say his expression will be worth everything I'm going through now."

"Is he Northstar's kid too?" Laura asked, curious. After all, if she and Wanda had alternate universe siblings, the odds were good the others might as well.

"No, he's Aurora's," Bobby corrected. "But Northstar raised him, since she's... y'know."

"Completely batshit crazy?" Laura finished bluntly.

"Yup."

"Don't tell Ray I said that," Laura said. "He's somewhat protective of his family and what people say about them. Plus he might tell Violet and that would just be.....bad."

"This Violet would be Aurora's, then?"

"Yup, and she's a spoiled little bitch with way, WAY too much power," Laura explained with a look of distain. The few times she'd been unfortunate enough to interact with Violet had been more than enough to last her a lifetime.

"It's never a good thing when I'm not the most powerful being in the room," Bobby deadpanned. "Okay, you've been good about answering my questions. Anything you want to know?"

"Hmmm, what are the rest of your family like?"

Bobby took a deep breath and let it out in a sigh. "Jeff's... the sane one. He always knows the right word to say at just the right time to diffuse the situation. And somehow, he turned out nice. He gets it from Dad. He's also the one who looks like a Skrull in his natural form. Nate... Nate worries me. He puts on a good front, but I think the only person he actually cares about is Hal. That's Henry Lang. He's my fault."

"Your fault?"

"I was five, and my powers had already started to develop, and I thought that Aunt Cassie would make a really good mom... so I pulled a Half-Wanda."

"You got yourself pregnant with Cassie's children?" Lauta asked confused.

"Half-Wanda. This is generally meant to imply that I caused someone to become pregnant by a robot through unconcious use of my powers."

"Didn't Wanda impregnate herself on purpose? So wouldn't a half-Wanda be be either doing to yourself by accident or doing it to someone else on purpose?" Lauar asked.

"I was always told that is was an unconcious use of her powers."

"Nope, she did it on purpose, at least that's what I've heard. I don't get to talk to her much and it's not exactly a subject anyone's eagre to bring up." Laura said. "Although the fact that the kids were maintained by her powers was an accident"

"Facinating..."

"Basically she had a lot of built up magic energy and hexed herself so that she could have kids with the Vision." Laura continued. "Because, surprisingly, sex with a robot doesn't lead to babies."

"Gasp. Shock." Bobby deadpanned.

"Unless our family is involved. Even the Summerses haven't managed that yet."

"They need to breed with the Guthries so as to aquire the Guthrie Super-Sperm, THEN try with robots," Bobby suggested.

"....you realize you just doomed that to happen, right?"

"It's inevitable. And I have it on good authority that in my universe, a Guthrie and a Summers are sleeping together. They're both guys, but when as that stopped anything?"

"Oh, they are so doomed now. Personally, I blame you."

"I've been hearing that a lot lately."

"Really?" Laura asked playfully, "Been naughty lately?"

"Always, dear lady."
