Deanna leaned over Jeff’s shoulder, peering at the letter in his hands. “Not that I am not pleased that Cera’al is happy, but… I do not recall hearing good things about this Octavian’s father.”
Jeff leaned back a little, turning his head to nuzzle the side of his wife’s neck. “Namor’s a complicated ruler,” he said. “Most of us are. Of course, he’s still insane, but at least he never tried to kill or kidnap anyone in my family. Well, not directly,” he amended. “You know what I mean.”
“I am afraid I do, my love,” Deanna murmured. “Still. She could do better.”
“We shall keep our eyes on this Octavian,” Jeff assured her, folding up the letter. “And should he harm a single hair upon her head, we shall have his for a souvenir.”
“You grow vicious with age, my love. I am not entirely sure I approve.”
“It’s a family trait.”
