Mai found herself comparing Prince Zuko to a young riding lizard, awkward and fumbling and unsure of himself. Especially when he was compared to Azula, who was… perfect. Of course, Azula did everything she could to make Zuko even more awkward and insecure. For the princess, it was a game. Mai felt sympathy for Zuko, but she didn’t dare express it, lest Azula turn her attention to her.
Azula did so like to break people, after all. She wouldn’t be done with Zuko until she’d broken him utterly.
